Two Endodontic Cases by Dott. Alberto Rieppi, Udine, Italy
I am an associate professor at the University of Padua’s (Italy) Master’s program in Endodontics, and have been a member of the AAE (American Association of Endodontists) since 1990. My own practice (Studio Odontoiatrico Associato) is dedicated exclusively to Endodontics. As a result, I have tried a lot of dental devices and instruments—especially endo ultrasonic tips—but I was never satisfied until I discovered the highly-effective and long-lasting tools manufactured by SD Swiss.
It is my pleasure to write a brief synopsis of two tough cases explaining how effective SD Swiss’s ultrasonic and endodontic instruments are in a real practice. Hopefully the ordered sequence outlined below will help illustrate these tools’ successful use in a complex procedure.
CASE 1: Complex Retreatment
Step 1. Removal of the post with the
OUTPOST™ Endodontic Post Removal device
Step 2. Debriding the pulp chamber with the INDY-300 Diamond Retreatment Tip
Step 3. Retrieval the silver cones with the IRS® Instrument Removal System
Step 4. Final clean of the canal walls with the INDY-600 (steps 3 and 4 under microscope)
Step 1. Under microscope vision debridement of the cement in pulp chamber with the
INDY-400 (thinner to avoid touching the silver cones)
Step 2. Retrieval the silver cones with the IRS®
Step 3. Final clean of the canal walls with the INDY-600 (low power setting)
An active speaker, Dott. Rieppi has made presentations at numerous national and international conferences on Endodontics (SIE, Egyptian Association of Endodontics, Warm Gutta-Percha Study Club) and has authored numerous publications (Journal of Endodontics Italian - Italian magazine of Stomatology).
